Artist in Residence

At St Edmund's we believe that creativity is not just about painting and drawing. It is much, much bigger than that. Our Artist in Residence Lou Sumray comes to St Edmund's every Tuesday, to spend time with children in Red and Yellow Classes.

Children are automatically creative in their every day play and learning. They are born with the curiosity and exploration skills that they need to make sense of the world around them.

Creativity is about...

  • How children respond to what they see, hear, smell, touch and feel.
  • How children express and communicate their ideas, thoughts and feelings.
  • Being able to use a range of resources to design, make and build.
  • How children role-play, move, sing and play instruments.
  • Children using their imagination.
