In Red and Yellow class we have spent a lot of time getting to know each other. Everyone has settled in and is beginning to form relationships with other children and adults.

The children (and staff) loved our core story ‘Hug’. Thank you to all families who brought their puppets in for us to see. If you haven’t made yours yet please share these with your child’s key person when you have. We always love to see how you develop the children’s learning at home.

We had an artist called James who came to work outside with us. He is from a company called ‘Responsible Fishing’. James inspired us to use nature to create beautiful pieces of art. We went on walks around the school to collect natural materials and we found many beautiful items within our own nursery garden. We are continuing to develop the ideas James offered us. He will be back in the winter time to inspire us further!

Conkers and spiders were the themes for the Big Draw which took place in October. Lou Sumray, a creative artist who works with the children from Red and Yellow classes every week, did a special session with children and parents.

We are now moving on to our new topic ‘Seasons’. We are very excited to see what you have collected in your ‘Autumn Treasures’ bag!  We will begin by sharing the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ to explore the changing seasons within this one story. We will then move to our new core story ‘Stick Man’ by Julia Donaldson. Through this story we will use our imagination to make a stick come to life. You will soon be invited to our Sharing Stories workshop to explore this story with us.
