SEND at St Edmund's
At St Edmund's we celebrate every child and every family. We believe that every child belongs here — whatever their background, ability or needs. Inclusion is not just something we do, it is at the heart of who we are.
We value diversity and the unique contribution every child brings to our nursery community. We provide person-centred support that promotes full participation in nursery life, helping every child to maximise their happiness, wellbeing and life chances.
Every child is supported by their key person, teachers and practitioners, and where needed, external professionals too. Our staff undertake regular training to make sure every child's needs are met with care, skill and understanding.
Supporting Your Child
Every child has their own Record of Achievement that reflects their interests and learning journey. Children with SEND are also supported through:
A Developmental Journal — a small steps approach to tracking progress
A regularly reviewed Individual Educational Plan (IEP) — created together with you as parents
Where longer term support is needed, we can request an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) from the Local Authority
Our SEND Team
St Edmund's is an Early Years Enhanced Specialist Provision (EYESP) Hub, offering Local Authority allocated places for children with SEND. Our dedicated SEND team includes one Senior SEND Early Years Practitioner, five Level 2 SEND Practitioners and three SEND Apprentices.
Our team is led by our SENDCo, Ermina Kesedzic, who oversees SEND provision across both St Edmund's and Lilycroft Nursery Schools.
We warmly invite families of children with SEND to come and visit us before joining, so you can see our inclusive and welcoming environment for yourself. We'd love to meet you!
